Tui Na/Oriental bodywork therapy

TuiNa is an Oriental bodywork therapy that is part of Traditional Chinese medicine. It incorporates a manual manipulation of the body's channels and meridians to establish a harmonious flow of Qi, promoting the body's self-healing mechanisms.

TuiNa methods include massaging the muscles and tissues of the body and acupressure techniques to directly affect the flow of Qi. The treatment leaves the patient feeling relaxed and much more energetic.

TuiNa is most effective for treating the

following conditions:

  • Acute or chronic soft tissue injuries - the most common application

  • Digestive disorders: indigestion, stomach ulcer, duodenal ulcer, stomach prolapse.

  • Pain in different parts of the body: headache, migraine, arthritis, etc.

  • Skin appearance: TuiNa can minimize scar formation in post-operative patients or promote elasticity of skin in other cases

  • Every treatment method has its advantages and disadvantages.

  • TuiNa, even though it can treat both internal and external diseases, has its limitations.

Contraindications to TuiNa include the following:

  • Acute or traumatic injury with an open wound

  • Infectious diseases transmitted through skin-skin contact

  • Patients with these diseases should avoid TuiNa: enlarged subcutaneous nodules, patients with high risk of heart attack, inflammation of the spinal cord, pregnant women, etc.
